Epic Moments: Kharn

This is a new feature I am going to trial about moments in my games or games I witness that deserve some kind of mention. We start with a 10,000 year old legend. . . .

Some of the Galaxy know him and to know his is to fear him. I am of course talking about the one and only Kharn the Betrayer.

The story starts after deployment, Kharn with his 12 Khorne Beserkers rather recklessly decide to deploy in the middle of the table in partial cover but in full view of a Dark Reaper squad and lots of Guardsmen allies. Never fear though Eldar like the Taliban can't shoot for crap apparently. So Kharn moves up next to a small squad in a Rhino and on the 2nd turn after his unit is knocked down three Marines decides things are going to slow and commandeers the Rhino to speed forward across the table into the middle of two opposing armies. The Rhino gets blown up by a unit of Fire Dragons and the rest of both armies proceed to take apart his unit and after the smoke clears. . . . there is just KHARN!!!! A few more shot later and he is down to 1 wound. Needing to pass an Invulnerable save or die the last shot of the turn bounces off his rock hard head. Kharns turn. Ten Lesser Daemons summoned on his Icon. Kharns charges Fire Dragons, dead unit of Fire Dragons. The Lesser Daemons tie up the depleted Seer council for a turn. Kharn survives another round of EVERYTHING shooting him in no small part thanks to the Chosen's Rhino that killed three Dark Reapers with a Havoc Launcher and Boltgun and the Chosens Bolters taking down the other three. Kharns turn. Charges the Seer council now at just Eldrad and 4 Warlocks. Eldrad and Kharn strike at the same time due to Enhance and Furious charge bonus cancelling each other out. Edlrad only gets one wound on Kharn which he makes on the invulnerable, by now the 5th or 6th that should have killed him. Kharns gets three wounds on Eldrad he fails one but gets a reroll on 3+ and fails this. Kharn being Strength 6 kills him outright. The Warlocks fail to hurt him, Kharn passing 3 more saves and then they run away and get cut down. Pretty much game over for the good guys but out of spite they do one more round of shooting before conceding. The Falcon Grav-Tank shoots at Kharn, he passes two more invulnerable saves and an armour save but is finally taken down by some Guardsmen cowering in the wreck of their Chimera.

  1. I was thinking of starting something similar with what my tau beat in combat. Thus far, firewarriors have beat up a farseer, and my broadside has beaten up 15 stormboyz and sent some packing. Haha...

  2. I think the true legends of that story are the humble Guardsmen. Seeking cover in their wreck of a vehicle, they see the torrents of fire being poured at Kharn, shrugging everything off. Then Corporal 'Deadeye' Kravitz lines up his shot, searching for a weak point in the monsters armour. Then a crack of ionised air later Kharn is dead, minus one helmet eye lens.

    A true Hero of the Imperium if ever I saw one! Staring death in the face and still taking him down.

  3. For what it's worth my Stormboyz are only 10 strong...

    And 'Deadeye' Kravitz found a weak spot with an anti tank missile ;oP

  5. It's my stormboyz - ridiculed among the orkish community. With good reason. In their last game out they flew a few inches across the board then got beat up by a seer council. At least in that game they died before they had the chance to run away, which is their normal course of action :oP

  6. Your stormboyz thus far have failed to kill much at all. i think they need a sit down and talking to. its not all about the rocket on your back lol
