Space Wolves

Now its not in my nature to gush over a kit but I do love this new Space Wolves plastic box set (that my GF bought me for X-mas). This is the start of my army which I will be building up over the next year or so. As an avid fan of Dark Angels this is an unusual choice for me and although Dark Angels will always be my first love I have a desire to be wolf like. I love wolves and even have a yin yang tattoo with wolves paws as the dots (not panda paws as some of my friends like to claim). Anywho as I'm doing this in between doing my Lizardmen army I thought would be good way to start showcasing how I paint stuff in steps. Also I'm going to try and stick to the fluff as much as possible. This will come out in my army as much as I can make it, for instance my guys carrying the Wolf Standards are more ornate than the guys carrying Power Weapons as its a higher honour. I wont have any Rhinos as Wolves like to cover the last bit on foot and just use them to get to the battle. If they ever do Fenrisian Wolves I will be loading up on them too. I will be using a darker grey and using some other guides online, ( is a great one to follow if you like this army ) with my own personal touches. Enjoy and my finalized 2000 points list will be posted soon as I find where I put it.

TOFG Month 4

This be the Dreadnought of Nurgle, Plaague I call him, and the Chaos Lord.

TOFG Month 4

Completed a fully painted 2000 points ish of Chaos. This month sees me painting out of the ordinary with a unit of 12 Khorne Beserkers, a God i usually stay away from but I'm not sexually involved with after the havoc these guys wreak and the psychological factor of just having them sitting in a Rhino waiting to pounce. Also painted up an old Space Marine Dreadnought Nurgly and modded up a bit and as I was a few points short I painted up my Chaos Lord in Terminator army which I'm actually quite pleased with I used a few techniques Ive been practicing before I put them to use on larger scale, and I found a pot of chestnut ink which is much nicer and richer than brown ink.

I kept these dark red so they tie in with my non Black Legion Word Bearers and made the Khorne symbols bright red so they stand out more. Overall a nice looking unit I think.

The Chronicles of Bel-Tzaxx Part 4

This is it. One more night and we will have all the power we need to claim this planet for the Dark Gods. . . . .

Our enemies have found allies, how dare they try to claim what is mine.

We had heard rumours of another Warband in the sector, they want our glory and that will not take it. They refused to join us so we forced them away only for them to come back with accursed Tau in tow. Impressive how they bent the will of the weak so quickly or maybe they had expected us to be hostile and had the alliance in place already, they scouted our strength but they did not scout our desire to win. The attack came early in the morning, earlier than expected but a minor setback. Cyclor had already moved into place to the east of the base ready to strike that killing blow. Bel-Tzaxx awaits in the Warp with his Daemon spawn minions to appear where most needed. Plaague and Thuxx take up flanking positions either side of Mortaans unit as they defend while the rest of the Warband strike. Karnage fresh of his Battle-barge leads the charge as the roar of bikers gets closer. The Tau heavy tank takes its toll on our Dreadnought allies damaging them both with AP rounds. Tzeruuz unit makes this vehicle its priority and take it down with a meltagun shot. Karnage and his unit take out the bikers but fall foul to mass fire from Tau and Marine infantry, although I'm sure I saw him still twitching in the dawn light. As we press home our charge the mighty Daemon Prince and his minions arrive and hold back the advancing Lord and his Terminator retinue. Thuxx joins the combat first with both his weapon arms damaged he is lucky hes so heavily armoured they barely chip his massive hulk. Bel-Tzaxx fly in on great beating wings and dispatches the huge armoured forms of the Terminators before falling into a savage combat with the unworthy Lord. It does not take long for the mighty one to slay the meek, roaring triumphantly as he adds the skull to his collection. Cycor arrives in his battle damaged Rhino, disembarking behind the Tau forward ops position and swiftly taking it down with Bolter and Chainsword. Out of the darkness Battlesuits appear and lay a terrifying amount of fire on his unit, consuming the building in fire and smoke. The Rhino opens up on them for the brief time they were visible, after the smoke clears none remain. Dead or fleeing noting of worth remains of the attacking force. Mortaan and his unit defended to a few men their position, the blessing of Slaanesh allowing them to strike swifter than these unworthy Marines.

Bel-Tzaxx - Survived (Proved to the Chaos Lord what true power is)
Cyclor - Wounded (His victories have bred complacency's)
Tzeruuz - Survived (Made up for his previous failures)
Mortaan - Survived (Held the base with his squad and pleased his patron Slaanesh)
Thuxx - Survived (Badly damaged both his arm units have been replaced)
Plaague - Survived (Another Dreadnought blessed to us from Nurgle)
Karnage - Wounded (A unit of Khorne Beserkers accompanies him, Tzeentch is wary but can use them)

The powers of the Four Gods come together for another victory and more good news we have our prize. I can sense a battle of all battles coming and if we are to win we may need to seek the help of the vile Greenskins. They hunger for war so we will offer them the chance to wage it with new and powerful foes and weapons, an alliance of necessity we will deal with them after we win.

+++I am powerful, I have many followers. This planet will be mine and the Darkness of the Gods will fill my soul until my power matches that of even the great Abadon. My artifact, my weapon of war is in my grasp. All shall fall before the might of my Baneblade, lost and now found. Beware followers of the False Emperor.+++

Winds of War 2010 - results (kinda)

I will make this brief as my team mate Chris had written up a great review with pics I'm just going to link his in. Was a great day and would recommend it to anyone, just remember to ask about any of the mission rules your not sure about or you'll end up losing games due to misunderstandings.

9th out of 24, not bad.

Epic Moments: Kharn

This is a new feature I am going to trial about moments in my games or games I witness that deserve some kind of mention. We start with a 10,000 year old legend. . . .

Some of the Galaxy know him and to know his is to fear him. I am of course talking about the one and only Kharn the Betrayer.

The story starts after deployment, Kharn with his 12 Khorne Beserkers rather recklessly decide to deploy in the middle of the table in partial cover but in full view of a Dark Reaper squad and lots of Guardsmen allies. Never fear though Eldar like the Taliban can't shoot for crap apparently. So Kharn moves up next to a small squad in a Rhino and on the 2nd turn after his unit is knocked down three Marines decides things are going to slow and commandeers the Rhino to speed forward across the table into the middle of two opposing armies. The Rhino gets blown up by a unit of Fire Dragons and the rest of both armies proceed to take apart his unit and after the smoke clears. . . . there is just KHARN!!!! A few more shot later and he is down to 1 wound. Needing to pass an Invulnerable save or die the last shot of the turn bounces off his rock hard head. Kharns turn. Ten Lesser Daemons summoned on his Icon. Kharns charges Fire Dragons, dead unit of Fire Dragons. The Lesser Daemons tie up the depleted Seer council for a turn. Kharn survives another round of EVERYTHING shooting him in no small part thanks to the Chosen's Rhino that killed three Dark Reapers with a Havoc Launcher and Boltgun and the Chosens Bolters taking down the other three. Kharns turn. Charges the Seer council now at just Eldrad and 4 Warlocks. Eldrad and Kharn strike at the same time due to Enhance and Furious charge bonus cancelling each other out. Edlrad only gets one wound on Kharn which he makes on the invulnerable, by now the 5th or 6th that should have killed him. Kharns gets three wounds on Eldrad he fails one but gets a reroll on 3+ and fails this. Kharn being Strength 6 kills him outright. The Warlocks fail to hurt him, Kharn passing 3 more saves and then they run away and get cut down. Pretty much game over for the good guys but out of spite they do one more round of shooting before conceding. The Falcon Grav-Tank shoots at Kharn, he passes two more invulnerable saves and an armour save but is finally taken down by some Guardsmen cowering in the wreck of their Chimera.

Kharn = Legend

TOFG Mini Tournament

First off Id like to thank Ginge for hosting the event we had on Sunday and for supplying nibbles but unfortunatly not locking his door so Scotty D was able to walk right in.

Ok my list for this was as follows:

Daemon Prince - Mark of Tzeentch, Wings, Bolt of Change and Warptime.

10 Chosen - Mark of Khorne, Champion with Powerfist and Meltabombs, 2x Power Weapons and Rhino with Extra Armour and Havoc Launcher.

Dreadnought - Twin-linked Lascannon, Heavy Flamer and Extra Armour.

10 Chaos Marines - Icon of Tzeentch, Champion with Powerfist, Meltagun, Flamer and Rhino with Extra Armour and Combi Flamer.

10 Chaos Marines - Icon of Slaanesh, Champion with Power Weapon and Plasma Pistol, 2x Plasmaguns.

10 Lesser Daemons

10 Lesser Daemons

Varied slightly from what Ive been painting as I am just expanding my Chaos so have been swapping things in to make a legal and competitive force but still painting my 500pt quota.

Ginge's Orks:

The last game we played at 1000pts I got spanked harder than the French in Vietnam. This game however took a different path. A point worth making is my Daemon Prince died first turn (again) but rather than costing me the game this time it didnt have much bearing as the trade off was the unit killing him was beaten down by my Dreadnought over a few turns and finished off by my Lesser Daemons due to them recieving no support. My Tzeentch Marines managed to fight off 2 yes 2 units of charging orks, they took a heavy toll on my unit but both ran away like lil girls, 1 got away and the 2nd remained in combat for another turn to be cut down as they tried to flee. It was close towards the end as we had to take objectives and Ginge had no scoring units left and mine were being hampered by trukks which wouldnt die but the game went to turn 7 giving me enough time to smash them both up and claim myself 2 objectives for the win, yay me.

Kens Tau:

This game was mostly a blurr I remember little, unfortunatly what I do remember is my Dreadnought spending 2 turns trying to blow the crap out of my Daemon Prince with his Lascannon (probably revenge for him dying so early in the first game). My Prince was a legend in this game killed 2 squads of Battlesuits and shot down a Hammerhead in the same turn my Plasma Squad destroyed the 2nd Hammerhead. This game was so to and fro it was hard to see who was winning from 1 turn to the next and at the end the game was a draw with neither of us having much left on the board.

Chris's Imperial Guard:

Ok so last time I played this army at 1000pts I tabled it on my last turn with the luckiest chain of events ever. This time however I kinda failed to do much at all I think I killed less than 15 Guardsmen. The sheer amount of firepower I was facing was too much this time and I lost 2 of my Icons on turn 2 so when 1 unit of my Lesser Daemons turned up on turn 3 they died and then turn 4 the same again as I recklessly disembarked my Chosen in anger trying to avenge my fallen and they got the crap shot out of them. This was a very dissapointing game for me and as it was the game to decied 1st and 2nd overall place I was gutted to lose it with out even being able to put up much of a fight.

So there we go 2nd place not bad. Was a fun day of gaming and was great to play some balanced armies rather than power lists and to have 99% painted models on the table. Now I go to regroup and paint up another 1000pts for the Apoc game to determine the overall TOFG winner, and I have to team with Ginge's Orks against Tau and Imperial Guard.
